Opportunity for Mackay businesses to accelerate their innovative METS solutions

11-Oct-2018

Mackay businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs with an innovative METS (Mining Equipment Technology and Services) product or service in its early sales or testing phase, are encouraged to be part of an exciting Regional Pre-Accelerator Program during October and November.

The Queensland Government, in conjunction with METS Ignited, is funding a series of Regional Pre-Accelerator Programs to provide Mackay businesses and start-ups that are currently developing a viable METS solution, the opportunity to build their business capabilities and confidently use modern business techniques and frameworks to accelerate commercial outcomes for the innovative product or service.

These businesses will then go onto showcase their innovative solution as part of a Regional Showcase to be held in conjunction with the Queensland Resources Council State of the Sector Forum on November 21 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The participating regions and industry groups, including Mackay (Resource Industry Network), Rockhampton (Capricorn Enterprise), Gladstone (Gladstone Engineering Alliance), Toowoomba (Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise), and Emerald (Central Highlands Development Corporation), will each host industry-specific pre-accelerator programs prior to the showcase in which participants have the opportunity to test and build on their product or service before taking it to market.

The intensive workshops, delivered by KPMG, will focus on understanding customer value, value proposition, and validating problem-solution fit. Each regional pre-accelerator program is limited to 10 businesses, and it is anticipated that the program will generate new work opportunities through the introduction of their offering to a number of mining houses at the regional showcase event.

In addition, the program will promote and build the capabilities of early stage founders so they can confidently apply relevant innovation tools and frameworks to accelerate commercial outcomes into the future.
