RIN GM Appointed to Resources 2030 Taskforce

Mackay’s Resource Industry Network General Manager Adrienne Rourke has been appointed to the Federal Government’s Resources 2030 Taskforce.

Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan said Ms Rourke would bring an important regional perspective to the work of the Taskforce, which is focussed on ensuring a strong long-term future for the resources sector.

“It’s important to have a strong voice for regional Australia as the Taskforce maps out the next opportunities for resources projects and resources jobs,” Senator Canavan said.

“Adrienne Rourke will speak from experience both as a regional Queenslander, and as someone who understands the important role of small businesses and service industries in the mining sector.”

As the peak industry association for companies actively engaged in the region’s resource sector, Resource Industry Network is delighted to be asked to join the Taskforce and represent the resources supply chain and regional communities, Ms Rourke said.

“I am looking forward to working with other taskforce committee members to identify and bring forward bold, attainable reforms to the Australian resource sector.”

Dawson MP George Christensen welcomed the appointment of Ms Rourke.

“I advocated for a voice at the table from our region on the Resources 2030 Taskforce because this group of industry specialists will be making recommendations that guide the future of the resources sector, which is a key pillar of our regional economy,” Mr Christensen said.

“Adrienne will be there to represent our mining support businesses and all the workers in that sector and will provide vital input into the industry’s direction. I congratulate her on her appointment.”

Ms Rourke joins the eight other Taskforce members, who represent the diversity of the minerals, resources and gas sectors.

Other members of the Taskforce include:

  • Mr. Andrew Cripps – Former Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Queensland Government
  • Professor Marcia Langton – Chair of Australian Indigenous Studies, University of Melbourne.
