Resource Industry Network has partnered with CQUniversity to ensure the region's engineering sector has a bright future.
The region’s engineering sector has a bright future with the partnership between industry body Resource Industry Network and CQUniversity Mackay.
The partnership strives to enhance economic resilience via industry-led engagement and collaboration to ensure the region is the benefactor of world-class graduates and innovation delivered by CQUni.
By connecting local industry directly with the university, its students and programs, the partnership will only strengthen and define the offerings at CQUni to enhance the production of highly skilled, industry-ready graduates.
As an industry, RIN will work with the university and offer mentoring programs, networking events, student placements and site visits, as well as shared advocacy and improved messaging around the resources sector.
Industry will also have the opportunity to advertise and employ positions through the university careers platforms, providing demonstrated pathways to employment for potential students.
CQUniversity’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Engagement, Campuses and Mackay-Whitsunday Region Professor, Pierre Viljoen, said in turn, the university could offer industry professional development events, identify new sectors for industry to service, expand its offerings to suit the sector and identify and respond to industry trends ahead of the curve.
“And, in keeping with our emphasis on leadership in innovation, CQUni will also open its facilities to local businesses to further their research and development in their specialised fields.
“CQUni has a proven track record of producing world-class engineering students from world-class facilities right here in Mackay,” Professor Viljoen said.
“Now we must work together to ensure our students remain in the region post-graduation to retain these skills.”
