Resources Industry Network

Nominations now open for 2020 RIN Awards

METS companies encouraged to do something good for their business

Top performing METS sector companies from the Mackay region are encouraged to nominate for the upcoming 2020 Resource Industry Network (RIN) Awards and do something good for their business this year.

Nominations will remain open until April 17th and RIN is urging businesses to take the time to prepare their nominations for the seven categories on offer.

The awards firmly place the region’s resource sector in the spotlight, and with so many challenges facing businesses on a daily basis, the event is a positive way to celebrate the many accomplishments happening in the resources sector and a cost-effective way to gain exposure for your business.

The awards are free to enter as many times as you like and nominees benefit enormously through recognition with buyers, stakeholders and government.

Last year’s Striving for Diversity category winner, Deslie Halliday from Mackay Conveyor Equipment, said their business looked forward to the awards each year because businesses were recognised and showcased thoroughly.

“I know a lot of businesses, including ours, who look forward to the awards and the exposure it provides their business,” Ms Halliday said.

As a member of last year’s judging panel, Peabody Australia’s Trevor Trott said it was great to be part of the judging process and learn about the numerous companies nominated in the various categories.

“I enjoyed the opportunity to listen to the passion and dedication all of the entries displayed for the change they are making in our industry,” he said.

The awards provide an opportunity to step back from day-to day-business activity and make a valued assessment on the achievements of your organisation and staff, as well as recognise staff for the effort they have contributed to your organisation.

The 2020 award categories include:

  • Chasing Foreign Markets Award
  • Champion Culture Award
  • Out of the Box Award
  • Safety Foremost Award
  • Connecting in the Community Award
  • Standing out from the Crowd Award
  • Striving for Diversity Award

The event has seen a new major partner, DRA Global, come on board this year alongside silver sponsor Mackay Regional Council. The Gardian Group is also supporting the event by taking up the new keynote speaker sponsorship package. Category sponsors include Field Mining Services, Local Buying Foundation, Mastermyne and BMA. Established in 2008, the awards showcase excellence in business and the significant contribution that they make to the regional economy and community.
