RIN International Women's Day Business Lunch 2021

Best-selling author and speaker Dr Karen Morley will headline the Resource Industry Network’s (RIN) International Women’s Day Business Lunch set for Monday, March 8th at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Dr Morley is a highly sought-after executive coach, an authority on leadership coaching, and a thought leader on gender and inclusion. She also is well versed on the benefits of gender-balanced leadership and how to help women to succeed in senior organisational roles.

She is the best-selling author of Beat Gender Bias and Lead Like a Coach and has led a broad range of leadership development, succession, and talent management assignments, both as an external advisor and as an internal senior leader, with an emphasis on evidence-based approaches.

RIN general manager Dean Kirkwood said the International Women’s Day (IWD) Business Lunch had grown into one of Queensland’s largest IWD events in recent years and its success lied in the mature and inspirational conversations around diversity, gender, and inclusion within business and industry.

“RIN is leading the way in Mackay when it comes to facilitating improvements on these issues. Local businesses, including many in the METS community, have implemented diversity and inclusion strategies and policies within their organisations with much success and to the benefit of their respective businesses.

“Dr Karen Morley’s expertise in this area means she is a fitting addition to this year’s event, and we can’t wait to learn more about her insights in these areas, so more local businesses can go on this journey of improvement,” Mr Kirkwood said.

Dr Morley’s IWD presentation will include topics such as:

  • The bias in our brains – how it causes gender blindspots;
  • Why women and men should champion change; and
  • Six ways to be more inclusive.

Dr Morley will also moderate a panel discussion with three other guest speakers including G&S Engineering’s Lee Sheather, leading Australian presenter and speaker Andrew Klein, and Co Gear founder Kym O’Leary (click here for bios).

Mackay Regional Council and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance are the major partners, and once again, Resource Industry Network is offering complimentary tickets to local high school students thanks to a partnership with the Local Buying Foundation. This has been a huge success in previous years, and we look forward to welcoming the students to the conversation on the day.

This event has sold out in advance in previous years and RIN urges anyone wanting to attend, to secure their tickets early at
