Resources Industry Network

Two great programs devised for local METS sector

Programs designed to accelerate solutions and build export capability for METS businesses in the region

Resource Industry Network (RIN) is now seeking businesses to participate in its 2020 Regional Accelerator program and Export Ready Course, both starting in August.

The Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday (MIW) region is a world-class leader in METS solutions and RIN is facilitating two programs designed to further develop METS products or services, as well as ready businesses for the export market. The courses complement each other in that they cater to a variety of businesses regardless of what stage they are in the development process.

The Regional Accelerator project, which has been made possible with funding from the Queensland Government and administered by METS Ignited, aims to drive the commercial acceleration of small-to-medium METS businesses, start-ups and innovators in the Mackay region.

Delivered face to face, RIN will offer the program via online participation and in person. One of the biggest drawcards to this program is the fact that participants get to liaise with, and pitch to, real customers. The program content is aimed at enhancing participating business' capabilities by delivering information and expertise to:

  • Upgrade their internal business systems with a focus on digital marketing, pitching and relationship building skills;
  • Provide know-how to gain traction in the marketplace for their specific product or service;
  • Recognise the need to innovate to answer customer demands and remain competitive; and
  • Provide the tools to help establish robust and sustainable businesses for long-term success.

Australia-wide, the METS sector contributes $92 billion to the economy with a sizeable portion of that attributed to the MIW region. It is for this reason that programs like these are important in further cementing the MIW region’s position and developing the local METS sector.

The MIW METS Export Hub Export Ready Course, also starting in early August, will cover a variety of aspects pertaining to the export market and engages the Export Council of Australia’s expertise in delivering the online course.

Participants will learn how to successfully take their businesses global, learn from other METS businesses already exporting, build an export business plan, and participate in a digital workshop to help develop and deliver their business pitches.

This course is available thanks to funding assistance from the Local Buying Foundation.

So if you want to set your business up for success in the future, these programs offer the opportunity to create a solid foundation to build upon. For more information or to request an interview, please contact:
