Resource Industry Network aims to build a prosperous and resilient Mackay-IsaacWhitsunday community through leveraging the collective capabilities of the resources sector supply chain.

We acknowledge the comprehensive scientific basis regarding climate change and support global action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We are proud of our member’s efforts to lower emissions in their own operations by improving energy efficiency and adopting renewable energy where possible.
Climate change is a serious and complex challenge faced by all of humanity. It is vital to improve community understanding of:

• The mechanism of climate change;
• Australia’s place in the global use of fossil fuels; and
• The contribution of the resources industries to Australia’s economy and society, including our ability to respond to climate change.

Australia’s resource sector leads the world with sustainable, regulated and safe mining practices. It is also one of the world’s most equitable, with the wealth generated shared more evenly throughout the community than most other nations.

As a foundation of Australia’s METS capability, the resources sector is one of our best nurseries of the new technology and innovation that will be needed to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Attempts by well-intentioned but misguided activists to hamper Australia’s resources sector have no material effect on global climate change; but they do serious harm to our society, slow our transition to a lower carbon economy, and limit our ability to mitigate the effects of climate change.
