Mentoring as an effective business strategy

Mentoring is more than personal professional development. The implementation of a structured mentoring program is an effective business strategy that can transform your company culture, improve your Employee Value Proposition, and positively impact your financial bottom line.

Resource Industry Network and Mackay Regional Council have again partnered to deliver the Mackay Mentoring Network in 2021. The Mackay Mentoring Network program aims to strengthen leadership capability by supporting current and aspiring managers and leaders of regional industries and local government to build a network of inspired leadership professionals.

It allows mentees to explore their careers and skills and provides opportunities for them to connect with like-minded people, through participation in a mutually beneficial developmental relationship.

The Mackay Mentoring Network is a formally structured 4-5 month mentoring program with regular catch ups with a mentor for approximately an hour each session.

Resource Industry Network is now seeking applications from RIN members to act as mentors, as well as emerging leaders who are interested in being mentees.

Applications are open until February 26th, 2021, with successful participants being advised by March 5th.

Cost to participants is $250 pp.

WHAT PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS HAVE SAID:

"I found the mentoring program invaluable and I was fortunate enough to get a mentor who works in my field. It is a rare opportunity that you will get to engage with professional who works in your field and opens up your experience and gives you direction in your career, so go for it!" Emily Wicks

"My mentor was female in a very high up managerial position. Really good really informative and well worth the experience. The biggest thing I got out of the program there is always someone who knows something you don’t and don’t be afraid to ask people." Matthew Eatwell

"It was really to develop a relationship with the mentee and really work out what they were looking for. I got a lot of out of it myself as a mentor, and having an age gap and coming from a different industry does help as well." Marcus Pillhofer
